Wildflowers in the Smoky Mountains

Tennessee is the only place that we have seen yellow violets. The purple and white are called confederate. What is so wonderful that when you take a photo of one flower there are all these others that appear in the shot.

This was one of the joys of the weekend, seeing a new trillium. Three white petals with three long, green petals between them and a dark center.

Anne, do you think the large leaf is wild ginger? It is so much larger that the ginger you gave us, but the leaf shape is the same.

gorgeous! I love the trilliums, I have only seen white here that 'fade' to pink... how amazing to have so many different kinds. The yellow violets are lovely, those grow at higher elevations here and the purple are lower down... does the blue clematis grow there?

Trillium if my favorite. I continue to be amazed and excited whenever I see a new variety. I will get some photos of those in our yard when they bloom.
