This is the first trillium spotted in the yard this year. It is always such a joy to spot the wildflowers as they start to appear. I go on hunts during late winter in search of them. Tuesday I planted some yellow trillium that were a Christmas gift that were just sent by the nursery. Yellow is a color that we do not have so I can't wait for them to grow and bloom. Rain this morning so the new plants will be nourished under their blanket of leaves and pine straw.
A few feet away was this beauty. Now to see if any of the Mayapples are starting to peak out.
