Lonny 2

This image is from an article on boutique hotels. The magnolia fabric which is what caught my eye and heart. This is my favorite image from this issue.

Work shirts are always a must to own; nice touch with all the pearls, chains and the arms of the sweater pushed up. The white/cream of the sweater keeps your eyes focused on the blue of the shirt and the pearls.

Nice hats and a great photo of grays, black and white clothing.

Above two images from the new J. Crew Women's store in New York.

Haus Interiors looks like a store where I could spend some serious time, beautiful objects in a well design space, artfully arranged.

Gift Wrap

Yes, the season for wrapping presents if over for now, but the need for new and fresh ideas never ends. So while cruising the web between the holidays these delightful beauties were discovered. They meet my criteria; natural, white, twine, texture, using scraps of what you have.

(I did find these photos on a couple of different sites.)

These are a perfect match for the packages above! I like the gradation in size.

Gees Bend Quilt

Circa 1930, variation of housetop pattern, concentric squares pieced from cotton, wool and rayon. Back side lined with flour sacks, entire quilt hand stitched. One of the treasures from the group of women quilters in Gees Bend, Alabama.

The A can stand for Alabama or Art or Art is from Alabama.

Luke 2:7-14

She gave birth to her firstborn son.  She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock.

The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear.

The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.
And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
"Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."

Living with Type

The boxes with the button closure have always been one of my favorite images from Victoria magazine. The boxes are natural, there is string and type involved and there is more than one. The Advent Calender uses vintage, natural in a limited color selection on tags with type. There were more images from this issue of the old Victoria on Sarah Klassen / Haute Design.

Kaki on white, they even put a period after the number!

Packaging

above two images from Cote Bastide

How fun everything looks with the same packaging!

A wonderful little wreath that would be a graceful addition to any of the packages above.

both images from  Ludwig Interior Design

Double ribbons are always a nice look, this look would be a great addition to the Metalic Christmas post

A limited color pallet is always a must.

The silver bells and berries are nice embellishments on the black and white print papers. The white package appears to have the excess paper folded on top. I am not that neat of a wrapper to have all the excess work out that well

Natural colored boxes with string, twigs always a favorite

Nice simple look with a Christmas post card and glass garland.

What a delight to find an article from the old Victoria scanned on Sarah Klassen / Haute Design. Folding paper on a package has always been a favorite and with a touch of costume jewelry who could go wrong?

My Scrapbook

I like the pages in my scrapbook to have themes. It takes much longer to paste images in this way, but it makes the individual pages more interesting to me and has subjects together.

The doorway above is into a home in Charleston, SC. The people were taxed at one time by the amount of frontage on the street so the houses were turned on their sides with the doors facing the street and a courtyard on the side of the house.

Jette Froelich

The embellishments in the Metallic Christmas II post made me think of Jette Froleich

whom I discovered in one of the Quest Magazines
