Curiosa by Barton Lidice Benes

At least once a year I try to pull books off the shelf to revisit. It may have been more than a year since going through Coriosa. Having bits and pieces from celebrates is not for me, but the concept of saving things this way is intriguing.

This really is a wonderful way to save memorabilia. You do not have to keep the entire program, flower, keepsake...you just keep a piece of something and put it on paper and write what it is. How many rock have you saved that you now have forgotten where they are from?

Deckle edges on paper have always been one of my favorites. I wondered if all these pages are the same size and does he buy the paper this size or do it himself. Obviously the ones in the frames are the same size. If they are all one size then that you been the factor of how much you are able to keep of something.

Eternal Rest Prayer

P. Eternal rest grant unto them (him, her), O Lord.
R. And let perpetual light shine upon them (him, her).
P. May their (his, her) soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
R. Amen.

It seem appropriate to end the month of November, All Souls Month, with the Eternal Rest Prayer. This is a prayer that I need to memorize.

Today is the first day of Advent.

Random Interiors

The above two images are from the same space.

After seeing this image I thought, oh a post on warm tones with worn surfaces.

But then I found this room! The space is grand, but how beautifully it is furnished. As a fan of taxidermy how can I not like all this?

Nice and light and time for daydreaming...

Home in a Whaling Village

I remember seeing this home in one of the shelter magazines years ago so it was a delight to find more images in the portfolio of the designer Steven Gambrel.

This photo does not do the room justice. The real truth is the scientific instruments are not showcased as much as I would like. So what is the structure of the room is shown I want closeup of these tabletop items!

It must be a tiny house if you can walk in and the next step be seated at the table. But what a breeze you might experience if you open both doors while at the table. Look at the lock on the far door.

Looks like a wonderful collection of birds eggs.

Pennsylvania Farmhouse

A restored 1840's farmhouse by Ochs Design.

What is so nice about the interior of this farmhouse is that it is not cute.

Edit, edit, edit...three words I do not know, but would like to meet. Why is it that I am drawn to rooms like this, but can never achieve them in my own home?

What's not to like about the above room; an antler light fixture, twigs above the windows, the symmetrical design of the room with facing sofas, but with two trunks as tables, the rust and gold colors in the room, the hint of a wooden fireplace mantel in the adjoining room...

We love our Windors, but they are not the most comfortable chairs to sit in. Nice, rich color on the walls.

Enough space that one area is an art instillation!

Mushrooms

Botanical illustrations and technical drawings have always intrigued me so I was excited to find these mushrooms at Bibliodyssey

Cross sections and full color!!!

Some of these look familiar and some do not.

This was part of a fairy circle. It was so amazing to see it grow daily as we walked the dogs.

It looked as it the circle was made up of different types of mushrooms, but they may have been in stages of growth. Interesting to me any way. We had so many mushrooms growing all over the neighborhood because of all the rain we had this summer. They were there one day and dying the next.

These were not part of the fairy circle.
